Counselor Training: Level 2

Level 2 Training is about developing a deeper understanding of counseling and living in the Kingdom.  The stories of people's journeys  through the healing process are prominent in this section.

Training: Level 2

 Description:

Tonight we discuss the concepts used in the book, "Fool Proofing Your Life' by Jan Silvius.

Description:

Our lives are a letter to the whole world.  How do we keep our testimonies when we are tempted?

We also began learning about taking Case Studies.  Pacing, eye contact, what type of questions are going to elicit the type of information that we need?

Description:

Tonight's teaching is on marriage counseling

Marriage counseling is probably one of the most difficult areas of counseling.  So it's critical that we listen to the Holy Spirit, because He will deal with each couple in a unique way.

Carrie and Jason talk about their journey through the counseling process and how it's helped to heal their marriage.

Description:
In class tonight we discussed what open ended questions are and how to ask them.

The teaching portion of the class was on what an open ended question is? How to ask non-judgemental open ended questions.  How to keep them simple.  What a difference pace makes.  How to avoid getting off track.

At the end of the class, Mike asks the group an open ended question.  What did you get out of tonight's class?

Description:

Tonight we learned about the use of assignments in counseling.

Jesus gave assignments and if we want to counsel like Him we must learn to give effective assignments as well.  Assignments are empowering.

Description:

Tonight we talked about Unmet Expectations.

Unmet expectations set us up for disappointment and victim mentality.

Description:

Stinkin' thinkin' when it comes to our ideas about our faith.

Tami leads us in a few minutes of worship to start class tonight.

I think you'll find this class both interesting and surprising at the same time.

Description:

Tonight we heard Lindsay's journey through through marriage counseling.

Success in marriage counseling does not always mean that the marriage survives, but that person is healed.

Description:

Nyk shares his journey from client to counselor.

Mike also talks about the need to be in control to feel safe.

We acted out the story of the Good Samaritan.

Description:

Hearing God's Voice

Hearing God' voice is one of the most important parts of counseling.  Tonight we have guest teachers to help us do that and to help us understand the process better.

Description:

Tonight's subject was on marriage and conflicts in marriage.

This is Jason and Carrie's second time to share their journey through marriage counseling from opposition and conflict to agreement and resolution.

I think you'll find this class both interesting and perhaps a bit unconventional, since many people would say that you can't work on a relationship if you're not together.

Description:

Changing our perceptions

Tonight we talked about changing our perceptions from a worldly view to a Kingdom view of life.  Changing our perceptions was one of Jesus' purposes of Jesus coming to mankind.

Description:

Tonight Rebekah teaches on how she learned to step out in faith and be who God called her to be.

This teaching is in part like a case study as she shares her journey.

God will take us from strength to strength, from faith to faith and from glory to glory.  As you listen to this teaching you will be able to see this principle at work.

Description:

Tonight we learned more about hearing God's voice and about our identity.

This is another class which Rebekah taught about learning who we are from God's perspective.  It's done in an amazingly creative way using Disney characters.  I'm certain you'll enjoy it!

Boundaries Teachings

God is very boundried and He created us to be like Him.  Boundaries are about owning your own heart--being authentic.  Healthy relationships are relationships that have good boundaries.  Unhealthy relationships don't have good boundaries.

Song of Solomon Teachings

Do you want to know what God has to say about romance and love and sex?  In this 3,000+ year old book we learn about attraction, dating, courtship, considering the cost, marriage, the honeymoon and how to fight fair in marriage.

Identity Teachings

Many of us don't realize how important our identity is.  It's generally the first thing that the enemy attacks.  Most of us think, incorrectly, that our identity flows from our performance, but in the Kingdom, our performance flows from our identity.
